✨ What is Type 4 Hair?
Type 4 hair is commonly described as coily or kinky, with tight curls that range from defined ringlets to zig-zag patterns. It’s beautiful, bold, and often the most fragile of all hair types, needing lots of TLC.
Here's a quick peek at the three subtypes:
🌱 Type 4A: Soft Coils
This hair has a defined “S” pattern and springy coils about the size of a crochet needle. It’s prone to dryness and shrinkage but can hold definition with the right moisture-rich products.
🌿 Type 4B: Fluffy Z-Pattern
Think of this texture as more of a “Z” than an “S.” It’s less defined but full of volume. Type 4B hair often needs thicker, richer creams to help with moisture retention and frizz control.
